Dialogue with All Conditionals
Today is Friday! Takondwa and Rachel are talking about their plans for the weekend. There is a new theatre group in town and the two excited girls would love to watch them perform. Rachel’s mother bought them some tickets as a reward for her daughter’s interest in Conditionals. Takondwa is elated of course!
Takondwa: I can’t believe your mother bought us those tickets. If I had my phone right now, I would call her to thank her.
Rachel: Don’t worry, it’s all right. You don’t have to rack your brains. We really deserve this treat.
Takondwa: Yes, we do! Thanks to Conditionals! When you work hard, you get rewarded. That’s life!
Rachel: That’s true. Ha, ha, ha.
Takondwa: It’s true Rachel. If you hadn’t developed this passion for Conditionals, your mother wouldn’t have bought us those tickets. Well done Rachel!
Rachel: Thank you Takondwa. It’s crazy, isn’t it? If you please my mother, she always treats you well.
Takondwa: Anyway, if I see her tomorrow at your house, I’ll thank her in person. She is such a lovely human being.
Rachel: Yes, you can do so. I think she’ll be very happy.
Takondwa: We’ll have so much fun tomorrow. You know what? If I were rich, I would become an actress. I just love acting.
Rachel: Well, I think you don’t need much money to act. Maybe if you had more time, you would be able to take drama classes while continuing with your formal education.
Takondwa: That’s true. I would still go to our school in the morning. Drama would be for the afternoons or evenings.
Rachel: Yes, that could work.
Takondwa: If I see the director of the theatre group tomorrow, I’ll ask him what it takes to be part of his group.
Rachel: Do you like to perform in front of many people?
Takondwa: Why not?
Rachel: If I saw you on stage, I would be very surprised, and at the same time, I would be extremely proud of you. Not so many people act, you know, let alone our friends or classmates.
Takondwa: For my first play, I would invent a dialogue with all Conditionals in it.
Rachel: A dialogue with all Conditionals in it? That wouldn’t make any sense!
Takondwa: Trust me, it would, ha, ha, ha. Conditionals brought us tickets for the Cultural Centre, remember?
Rachel: Yes, I do, ha, ha, ha.
Takondwa: Conditionals are our lucky charm then and we should pay attention to them.
