Express Strong Wishes with ‘IF ONLY’

Today is another excellent opportuniy to learn how to express your wishes or wants in a varied way.

What do you wish for at the moment? A new car? A beautiful home? A healthy relationship? Love? Excellent grades at school? A peaceful life?

We saw how we could easily express our desires in previous lessons. After all, life is made of dreams and it does not hurt anyone to hanker for a something or someone that they might never have.

You can also use ‘IF ONLY’ to talk about what you really want.

How to To Express Strong Wishes

At School

  • If only my handwriting were better.
  • If only homework were abolished.
  • If only I were more hardworking.
  • If only my Mathematics’ teacher would stop punishing me all the time.
  • If only my classmates were more understanding.
  • If only my classes were interesting.
  • If only he wouldn’t make so much noise in class.

At Work

  • If only I were paid more.
  • If only my boss were more understanding.
  • If only my workplace weren’t far from where I currently stay.
  • If only I could get a salary increase.
  • If only I weren’t a workaholic.
  • If only I were on holiday.
  • If only I could change my job within a year.

At Home

  • If only my husband were here with me.
  • If only the children would be more autonomous.
  • If only my wife were more understanding.
  • If only my parents weren’t so strict.
  • If only I ate better food.
  • If only the kids watched less TV.
  • If only someone could clean my house every day.
  • If only I had my own bedroom.
  • If only I could get myself a nice pair of shoes!
  • If only I could win the lottery!
