New Year’s Resolutions: 2017
2016 is drawing to a close and 2017 is just around the corner. It is the time of the year when people make resolutions.
What is a resolution?
A resolution is a strong or firm decision to DO or NOT TO DO something.
New Year’s resolutions are taken before the start of a new year. They are usually in the form of promises or goals.
You can decide TO:
- Eat healthier.
- Do more sports.
- Manage your finances better.
- Spend more time with your family.
- Do better at school.
- Stop smoking.
- Watch less TV.
Examples:
- I’ll / I will eat healthier.
- I’ll / I will do more sports.

You can also decide NOT TO:
- Spend too much time on social media.
- Have a stressful job.
- Have a negative view of life.
- Be in a bad relationship.
- Waste time.
- Overspend.
- Drink a lot of alcohol.
Examples:
- I won’t/ I will not spend too much time on social media.
- I won’t / I will not have a stressful job.
Emphasis
You can use the following ADVERBS to stress the importance of the decision you are about to take.
- I will surely read more.
- I will definitely eat better.
- I really will not waste time.
- I certainly will not have a negative view of life.

Where?

How?
Why is it so difficult to remain focused? What are your tricks to keep focused and stick to your goals?
New Year’s Resolution # 2: BE BRAVER
When?
It is tough to be courageous. There are many situations that call upon our courage in everyday life. When can one be brave?
New Year’s Resolution # 1: LOVE
Who?
Do you think it is important to love ourselves? How can we take good care of ourselves so that we can take better care of others?
